Sound Membrane

Project description

Membrane is an exploration of how audio can be digitally manipulated to take on a more physical presence. Clear acrylic rods hang down to interact with the user. As they are explored, the user learns that each rod sounds a different portion of the auditory landscape. This relationship is mapped via 3D cameras to z-value shifts and encoded into both sound and visualizations.
